These Terms of Service govern your use of Spare-bag. Spare-bag is a technology platform for peer-to-peer discovery and communication. It does not act as a carrier, shipper, freight forwarder, customs broker, insurer, travel provider, agent, buyer, seller, or party to arrangements made between users. By creating an account or using the platform you accept these Terms.
1. What Spare-bag is
Spare-bag is a community-based peer-to-peer platform that helps travellers with unused luggage capacity connect with people who may need help moving personal belongings between locations. Spare-bag facilitates discovery and communication between independent users. Spare-bag does not provide transport, shipping, logistics, customs, insurance, escrow, delivery guarantees, or commercial freight services.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement. You must provide accurate registration details, keep your credentials confidential, use one account per person, and remain responsible for everything that happens under your account. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, shared or transferred.
3. No custody, no verification, no guarantee
Spare-bag does not take possession, custody, control, inspection, verification, declaration, packaging, transport, delivery, or receipt of belongings. Spare-bag does not guarantee the identity, conduct, reliability, route, travel plans, legality, safety, condition, ownership, transportability, or completion of any arrangement between users.
4. Your responsibility
Each user is solely responsible for their own conduct, decisions, travel, communications, belongings, legal compliance, customs declarations, security obligations, airline requirements, taxes, insurance, and any consequences arising from an arrangement with another user. You must personally inspect and fully understand anything you agree to carry, and you must decline whenever anything is unclear.
5. Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
You may not use Spare-bag to arrange anything illegal, unsafe, restricted, undeclared, prohibited by airline or airport-security rules, or prohibited by customs or import/export law. You may not harass, threaten, defraud, impersonate, discriminate against or endanger other users, publish other people's contact or personal data, scrape or automate access to the platform, advertise commercial freight services, or attempt to circumvent safety, reporting or moderation features.
6. No payment features
Spare-bag does not process, hold, calculate, display, negotiate, guarantee or release payments, fees, rewards, commissions, deposits or escrow between users, and provides no wallet, payout, invoicing or price-setting functionality. Content that advertises, requests or negotiates payment may be removed.
7. Content, communications and encryption
You keep the rights to the content you post and grant Spare-bag a limited licence to host and display it so the platform can function. One-to-one chats are end-to-end encrypted, which means Spare-bag cannot read their contents and cannot recover or reproduce them; keep your own record of anything you may need later. Contact details such as phone numbers, email addresses and WhatsApp identifiers are never displayed publicly.
8. Reporting and moderation
Spare-bag does not monitor every post, chat or interaction. Spare-bag may investigate reports and take action, including restricting or removing content and warning, suspending or banning accounts, in accordance with these Terms and applicable law. Where legally required, affected users receive a statement of reasons and may appeal or complain about a moderation decision.
9. Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Spare-bag may suspend or terminate access where these Terms, the safety rules or applicable law are breached, or where continued access would create a risk to other users. Sections that by their nature survive termination, including liability, indemnity and governing law, remain in force.
10. Limitation of liability and indemnity
Spare-bag is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, Spare-bag is not liable for loss, damage, delay, confiscation, seizure, fines, injury or any other consequence arising from arrangements, meetings, communications or travel between users. You agree to indemnify Spare-bag against claims arising from your own breach of these Terms or of applicable law.
11. Changes to these Terms
Spare-bag may update these Terms as the platform, the community or the law evolves. Material changes are published as a new version with its own date. Signed-in members are notified in the application and must actively accept the updated documents before continuing to publish capacity or send connection requests; each acceptance is recorded with the document version, member, timestamp and audit context.
12. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by German law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. Questions about these Terms can be sent through the support page; the operator's details are published in the legal notice (Impressum).
13. Mandatory law
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
Acceptance of these Terms
Creating an account, publishing available luggage capacity, or sending or accepting a connection request confirms that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms of service together with the platform disclaimer, privacy policy, safety rules and community guidelines. When a new version is published you are asked to accept it again inside the application.
These Terms are a plain-language framework for a peer-to-peer community platform and are not legal advice. They should be reviewed by qualified legal counsel in each market before commercial launch.
Built for community support, not commercial delivery: Spare-bag is designed to help people connect through trusted travel communities. It is not a courier, freight, shipping, logistics, or commercial delivery service.
Spare-bag does not guarantee that a connection will be made, that any arrangement will be completed, or that a traveller will carry any belonging. Each user makes independent decisions and remains responsible for their own actions.
